The Flemish coast with its sandy beaches and gastronomic restaurants is only 60 km away. Ghent is situated in the centre of Europe and other famous historic cities such as Bruges, Brussels, Antwerp, Paris and Amsterdam are within easy reach. The official language in Ghent is Dutch, but most people also speak English, French and/or German. As such, the streets of Ghent are filled with young people originating from numerous nationalities. From St Michael's bridge there is a wonderful view on the skyline of Ghent with the three impressive towers of St Nicholas' Church, the Belfroy with its bell tower and St Bavo's cathedral with the world famous painting "The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb" by Jan van Eyck.
